The Wisdom Of The Ages

Flax has been prized since ancient times. Its Latin name, Linum usitatissimum, means "most useful". Hippocrates, the Father of Medicine, prescribed flax to patients with intestinal issues. King Charlemagne was so convinced of its benefits that he passed laws requiring his subjects to consume flaxseeds.

The Science Of Today

Today, the nutritional data backs up the wisdom of the ancients. There is agreement among experts of all sorts that folks should consume more omega-3 fatty acids to promote good health. Two tablespoons of Bob's Red Mill Golden Flaxseed Meal offers 2430 mg of omega-3s. What's more, each serving provides 3 grams each of fiber and of protein. Golden flaxseeds and their meal have no significant nutritional differences from their brown counterparts, making them a just as valuable addition to your diet as the more common brown flax. It's no wonder so many nutritionists, not to mention Bob himself, urge you to add flaxseed to your daily diet.

Straight From The Source

Sure, there are omega-3s and fiber in pill and powder form. You can also inhale oxygen from a tank, but wouldn't you rather breathe fresh air from the great outdoors? We just believe that eating the whole seed, as nature intended, serves your body and soul best.

Bob's Red Mill products labeled Gluten Free are batch tested in our quality control laboratory. We use an ELISA Gluten Assay test to confirm that a product is gluten free.

Dear Friends,

Milling flaxseeds is like opening a treasure chest. Flaxseeds contain a wealth of nutrients, but as whole seeds most of these nutritional treasures are locked away. Milling the seeds into meal gives your body access to the amazing nourishment stored within. In order to maintain the integrity of the wholesome nutrients in the flaxseed oil, the seeds must be milled with great care. That is why we don't make compromises or cut corners. Our proprietary flax milling machinery keeps the meal cool, which preserves the freshness of those precious oils. It's not the fastest way, but it's the right way, and it is absolutely worth the time and effort. The result is flaxseed meal with optimal nutrition and a fresh, nutty flavor you won't find anywhere else. Just a couple spoonfuls each day in your cereal or smoothie will be a wonderful way to maintain your wellness. That's why I say these bags are "packed with potential". I add a tablespoon to my oatmeal every morning, and I truly believe there is no better way to start the day.

To your good health,

Bob Moore

Great tasting flaxseed meal

Posted by MGG-ThreeTwoFour on Aug 01, 2015

I have tried 10 different brands of flaxseed meal and can tell you that this is by far the best tasting and has the most consistent quality. There are two types of flaxseeds, brown and golden. Both have the same nutritional value, but golden flaxseed is significantly smoother in taste and not as pungent/bitter aftertaste. I especially like Bob's Red mill for the organic offerings at a minimal price increase. I regularly sprinkle 1-2 tablespoons on my cereal in the morning to give it a nutritional punch of fiber, protein and essential fatty acids. The texture is very fine and almost has no noticeable effect on the cereal, if I went with 1 Tbls, you wouldn't even know it was there. I highly recommend giving Bob's products a try, I am sure you will find it as enjoyable as I have. Always store flaxseed meal refrigerated, opened or not. ** For new customers of iHerb, please also visit my page for more product reviews **

Great way of adding Omega-3 and fiber in my family's diet

Posted by honestreviews1 on Apr 13, 2013

This is a great way to add omega-3 and fiber to my family's diet. I replace 20-25% of flour when making bread (I also adjust the water slightly more, like around 5% as flaxseed meal needs more water to make the dough workable and not too heavy/dense). I also use 25% for our pancake mix (the rest is wholemeal flour and buckwheat flour) four our european style/crepe-like pancakes. I hope you find this review helpful.
