Chia was cultivated by the ancient Aztecs, and was honored as a "power food". Chia is one of the best plant sources of beneficial Omega-3 oils, especially a-linoleic acid (ALA). Scientific Research on Omega-3 and other essential fatty acids (EFA) continues to prove that EFA's support cardiovascular health, comfortable joint mobility, immune system function and overall cellular energy. Chia is often stored for long periods of time as a Survival Food, since it does not quickly turn rancid like other sources of essential fatty acids. It appears that my fasting blood sugar has dropped 40 points (120, 128,130---down to 80)after two weeks of daily doses of chia meal. It's not bad to get down either. Louise Ritchey
an excellent product. Chia Meal has reduced by total cholerterol about 40 points.
Ground up chia seeds

Is as expected, ground up chia seeds. Advantage over whole seeds is that it mixes easily with water. When I use whole seeds I generally have to wait 5 minutes for the seeds to completely absorb the water. Chia meal has a mild nutty taste. Good for cereals, cooking, gravy thickener, etc. If you're put off by the texture or look of whole chia seeds then this is for you. I'd have preferred they sell this as 16oz rather than 12oz.

Very tasty mixed with yogurt with or without added cereal. Good source of fiber as well. Have ordered from iherb for years and never had a problem - good prices.

In addition to its nutritional value, Chia is well-known for making a person feel fuller longer, so it's a no-brainer to add it to a morning smoothie. My husband uses it in his smoothies every day and stays full until lunchtime. I will continue to buy, and of course, buying at iHerb is also a no-brainer. :-)
